Who We Are

WontBeErasedPDX is a movement of Trans, Nonbinary, and Intersex folks in Portland coming together to engage in uplifting the community, and defending trans rights. We make it our mission to provide for the needs of Trans, Non binary, and Intersex folks through mutual aid, rallies and demonstrations, and community engagement events.

Won’tBeErasedPDX was started in response to the leaked Trump Memo that showed the administration's intention of defining transgender, queer, nonbinary,and intersex identities out of the protection out of the law, and therefore legally out of existance. Under those circumstances, we hope to develop a network for members of the community to quickly mobilize, and create change through actions. We came together with the belief that Nonbinary, Intersex, Queer, and Trans Rights in Portland, and throughout the world must be protected.

WontBeErasedPDX held its inaugural rally on November 15 at City Hall, which attracted over 200 people. The event was a convergence of Queer, Trans, and Intersex Pride. Speakers, prepared and unprepared, provided hope and empowerment for all who attended. Won’tBeErasedPDX is planning more actions in the future to promote Queer and Trans Power and Queer and Trans Rights in Portland.

On December 15, Won’tBeErasedPDX held its inaugural community engagement event in the form of a Open Mic and Tabling Event. The event showcased performance artist in the local LGBTQI2A+ community as well as an opportunity for LGBTQI2A+ creators and crafters to showcase and be compensated for their passions. WontBeErasedPDX hopes to facilitate more events like this in the future.

Won’t Be Erased has also expanded to provide mutual aid as well. Our Mutual Aid includes needs like housing, food, clothing, emotional check-ins.Recently we also provided our first monetary aid for a gender marker change. We continue to ask people to request and offer aid in order to keep the project going.

Ultimately, we at WontBeErased feel that Nonbinary, Queer, Intersex and Trans rights in Portland, and throughout the world, are achieved through community members coming together to fight against oppression. We hope to see new faces at our rallies and community events, and are always accepting aid applications. We are Queer, we are Trans, we are Non binary, we are Intersex, and we won't be erased!
